We created SSO to make a difference. Artists in Ottawa face not only a lack of studios, but also affordability, criteria that creates barriers, and instability due to gentrification. We want to make our studios unreservedly open to all visual artists, whether you are just starting out or are an established artist. We’ve replaced the usual requirement for a portfolio with a simple application including one image of your artwork. SSO artists range in age from twenties to eighties, and reflect diverse cultural backgrounds. We welcome applications from artists from equity seeking communities.
