I conduct research into color because I desire a greater understanding of this complex area of vision. I try to create increased vibrancy and new possibilities of color juxtaposition by means that challenge the painterly tradition: by minimizing line, brushstrokes, and the interplay of light and shadow. My procedure is similar to the “stream of consciousness” technique in modern literature, which seeks to reproduce the raw flow of consciousness, perceptions, feelings, associations, and memories. My work affects the viewer’s perception as clouds do; it creates sensations and recollections, usually of landscape, which are affected in turn by the viewer’s own, known reality. I strive for expression of something which is primordial.
