I’m Ángeles Sol Miranda, also known as Anyu Sun, a multidisciplinary Canadian-Argentinian artist based in Ottawa. Born in Buenos Aires into a family of architects, I was immersed in art from an early age. My formal education in painting at the University of Fine Arts and industrial design at the University of Buenos Aires informs my diverse creative practice, which bridges fine art, design, and exploration. My work explores themes of body positivity, emotional depth, and identity, represented through bold depictions of the human form, surreal esoteric language, and a deep connection with nature. I use a vibrant color palette, expressive lines, and layered textures to celebrate the complexity of the human experience, offering new ways of seeing identity and self-expression. Rooted in spontaneity, my creative process is subconscious-driven and improvisational. I embrace mistakes as part of the journey, allowing them to shape the work and transform it into a dialogue with my inner self. This intuitive approach lets me tap into emotions and narratives that lie beyond conscious planning, creating pieces that invite introspection. Having exhibited in cultural hubs across Buenos Aires and Ottawa, I am eager to expand my practice in a dedicated studio space. This would provide the freedom to explore larger-scale works, deepen my experimentation, and engage more fully with the local creative community.
